I'm racing for a US-based cycling team and training towards my goal of making the London Olympics - Andy Williams

Overview

I am trying to gain selection for the BikeNZ high-performance programme and the NZ squad for the 2012 Olympics. I have signed to ride for Team RUBICON-ORBEA, benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation. This team is based in America and rides on behalf of the foundation set up by Lance Armstrong. Riding for this team will enable me to race in the world’s most competitive environment against some of the best riders in the world.

To go to the next level and compete in the Olympics 2012, it is imperative to get this competition.

My current program is 100% self-funded and I am desperate for some funding. I have the skill, the enthusiasm, the drive – just not the cash!

I recently won the Team Sprint at the 2010 Oceania Championships and 2010 New Zealand Nationals, held the NZ record from November 2009 to March 2010 and placed top 10 at the second round of the 2010 UCI World Cup series held in Melbourne.

I need

  • A budget of $10,000/year to pay for airfares, accommodation and food while in the US and the rest of the season
  • A new bike and wheelset to even the playing field
