Overview

I am building a Vans aircraft RV-4 kitplane ,it is a two seater. the RV-4 was made famous by the australian adventurer Jon Johansen ,( the guy who got in trouble with our govt in the antaract 2004 ) I have almost finished the build with all the structure completed and hopefully we will start on the avionics instlation this weekend. The engine is a Kia sorreto 1600 diesel , experminatal aviation laws in NZ allow automotive engine to be fitted to kit planes.

A good friend Bill White is chip tuning the engine and mounting the prop drive. We have had the engine running on the B100 fuel and it works very well , It is also true that your workshop does stink of fish and chips when using this fuel

Diesel engined in aircraft are nothing new in the 1920s and 30s diesel power plants were looking good and were used on a number of flying boats.

I hope to be flying about november and intened to claim world first aviation endurance records for 100% pure vegatable oil flight in the light aircraft catagory

I have emailed and spoken to Shelene Hern from the close up TV programe and they are interested to cover the story, it is my intention to actieve flight then conduct trials up and down NZ them fly the tasman to port mcquarry and hopefully achieve a substancal record across the outback.

I would very much like to show your marketing team my project,Bills workshop woolston and the aircraft is in a hanger out at rangoria I can easily take time of work to take you around the traps
